Unique to Mix Media is an acoustic upright 1913 Heintzman transposing piano (shown at right) that transposes 6 semi-tones up or down (Cole Porter wrote some of his most popular tunes on a piano just like this!).

»   STEPHEN BULAT (Owner/Operator)
Stephen has worked as a producer, composer, sound designer, lighting designer, technician, musical director and musician, and has been active in the Vancouver theatre and music scene for over 15 years. He has worked for numerous theatre companies, including The Arts Club Theatre, Bard on the Beach, The Vancouver Playhouse Theatre, Pacific Theatre, Shameless Hussy Productions and Hoarse Raven Theatre.

As a musical director, he has directed such shows as “The Rocky Horror Show”, “West Side Story” and the Vancouver premiere of “Hedwig & The Angry Inch”, which was nominated for a Jessie Richardson Award as a “Hot Ass Band”.

As a sound engineer and music producer, Stephen has recorded a diverse range of ensembles including “Realtime A Cappella Quartet”, “The Melodious Mandolins”, “The Vancouver Cast Recording of The Rocky Horror Show“, “Violin & Guitar” and the traditional Balinese group, “Gamelan Gita Asmara”.

He has also composed and written original music for full length musicals and various documentaries and films, including the feature films “Bar None” and “Subhuman”. Finally, Stephen is a member of “Guilty Pleasure”, a 5-piece wedding & dance band playing all the songs we hate to love (and love to hate)!

 

 

 

»   RAYMOND MORGAN
Raymond has been active in the music and film scene for over 10 years. In music he has worked as a live sound engineer, producer, audio director, technician, and musician. He was the audio director for Rogers Television’s "Daytime" program for 2 years, and has been the live sound engineer for such groups as "The Listening Society" (featuring various local Vancouver talent) and "Hedwig & The Angry Inch".

Other sound engineering and producing highlights include working for the eclectic bands "Mamaguroove" and "Dirty Thoughts", and for Vancouver-based funk group "Monkey Machine". Ray has recorded and produced a diverse range of musical styles including jazz, blues, world beat & folk. He has also worked as a video editor for the television computer animated pilot entitled "The Elf King", and edited various documentaries. Raymond plays bass in the group "Secret Family Recipe", a jam-band that backs various artists in Vancouver's East Side.
 

 

 

»   ANA PERROTTA
Ana’s extensive experience includes work as an SFX editor, sound designer, foley recordist and editor for numerous film and television productions. With over 10 years experience engineering in music recording studios she possesses a vast understanding of audio post-production and recording techniques.

Ana is an avid multi-tasker and detail oriented person that strives to give the client exactly what he or she needs. For several years she was an integral member of the audio production team at CHUM media Television, working as an audio engineer/producer. In this position she consistently directed and produced voice over talent and radio spots for the entire television network. As well she was an integral component in the creation of a modern studio facility which enabled CHUM to have full digital production of all radio and television spots.

Ana loves audio and enjoys being involved with anything that can and will make a sound.
 

 

 

» MICHAEL COLEMAN (Voiceover Artist and Coach)
With a personal philosophy of “Don’t spend more on classes than you make from bookings,” Michael has been successfully coaching actors for years on the specific techniques needed to increase callback and booking rates for film & television and voice-overs. He has coached at three accredited acting schools in Vancouver, worked as an instructor and judge for the Canadian Improv Games and maintains a small roster of working actors that he coaches privately for on camera and voice-over work.

Michael has been trained in numerous facets of the industry giving him the ability to see things from various perspectives all at once. He has worked as an editor, on set chaperone, writer, director, producer, stand-in, and casting assistant. Each of these unique responsibilities allowed him to develop a broader understanding of how an actor’s performance is perceived and how it affects the different elements of production.

Michael has worked in both Canada and the US voicing numerous films and television series. He is also invited to attend numerous conventions throughout North America each year where he conducts panels and workshops for aspiring actors and fans of the shows he has worked on.

His experiences have taught him how to effectively combine both the organic and technical elements of performance - maximizing results in auditions and in studio. Michael’s students tend to train with him for extended periods of as a result of his focus on making more than you spend and his ability to continually push actors to find new depths to their skill sets.
